Bible Study Lesson 8

The Bible, not denominational teaching, is the foundation of the Faith

Number One: The Bible is God-breathed, not dictated. Timothy 3:16 The word inspire means to breathe into. This explains why the personality of the writer comes through.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Number Two: God watches over His word and sees that it comes to pass, eventually. This may be generations down the road. God promised a savior in Genesis but it was thousands of years later that Jesus arrived. To hasten means God will not be late in getting His will done.

12 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Nowhere does God ever promise to do man’s will.

Number Three: Confirmation of God’s words is verified by two witnesses, at least.

2 Corinthians 13:1 In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

This principle of two witnesses is a part of established law in the Western world. Unfortunately it is not always been followed in court cases. But recently the witness of DNA has been solid proof of rape which otherwise usually did not have two witnesses. Below it is demanded for a murder trial.

Deuteronomy 17:6 King James Version (KJV) At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

The Jews and Romans found two witnesses to condemn Jesus but they did so by misunderstanding his words. Jesus said the temple would be destroyed and raised up in three days. He was referring to his physical body, as God in the flesh, and he would be resurrected in three days. All this actually occurred, but the witnesses misinterpreted his words. This kind if error also happens today in court cases.

Number Four: Understanding the word of God comes by accrual, like your bank savings account. The longer you keep the money in, and adding to it, the balance grows. Your understanding will grow as you persist.

Isaiah 28:9-10 New American Standard Bible (NASB) “To whom would He teach knowledge,
And to whom would He interpret the message?
Those just weaned from milk?
Those just taken from the breast?
10 “For He says,
[a]Order on order, order on order,
Line on line, line on line,
A little here, a little there.’”

Once again remember to highlight in your Bible these passages.
