Do I need to be Baptized in Water to be Saved?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email
A good country, gospel favorite.

No- but you should anyway.  The scripture passage which describes this it when the thief on the cross accepted Jesus and was that very instance, accepted into heaven.  He did not have a chance to be baptized, but you do – or probably so.

Luke 23:42-44 King James Version (KJV) 42 And he (thief) said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Water baptism is something God wants us to do to show the world that we have accepted the full salvation offered by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure unto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

There are many duties we should expect to perform as a answer of a good conscience. In addition is the practice of meeting with other believers.

Hebrews 10:25 (CEV) 25 Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer.

Yes, it make take you some time to find a church. I found a very nice church last year, but the music was so loud I could not hear myself think. Some churches do not have members in various ages. Fellowship means having friends our own age and with our own interests and a variety of members.

We are expected to fast and pray; that’s right – fast TOO.

Matthew 6:16 (CJB) 16 “Now when you fast, don’t go around looking miserable, like the hypocrites. They make sour faces so that people will know they are fasting. Yes! I tell you, they have their reward already!

When you fast, not IF you fast. We all pray even when we don’t think about it.

These are called the holy disciplines. It is expected of those who are walking with Jesus, no matter how casually. You do not need to learn these all at once. Just start somewhere and spend some time, with your Bible, learning how.
