There are two modern questions involving hell. The first and most urgent is that whole groups of people deny hell’s existence. To correct this false notion one need only to read the words of Jesus who spoke of hell more than any other Biblical person. Since Jesus was God in the flesh you can hardly find a better spokesperson on the topic.
Hell was created not for humankind but for the spiritually corrupt kingdom under Satan and his followers.
Matthew 25:41“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
The second fallacy is that God sends people to hell. Telling people to go to hell is so frequently heard in adult circles you’d think it was actually possible. It’s not.
Some background first. Everyone lives forever. Human beings were created before they get to earth, and after they die they continue to live someplace in a non-human body, a spiritual body, which does not die. Since the spirit of man (not his soul) is from God, it returns to God at death leaving the unsaved person to deal with his soul and spiritual body in hell. At death …..
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
That place for eternal existence is decided by them while living on earth. Babies and children who die young do not make those decisions so they return to heaven from whence they came. For the rest of us it is a personal decision.
There is a heaven prepared for human beings. It was not God’s intention that anyone go to hell unless he/she so chooses. Our long lives offer us the chance to use these years to develop our attitude for this life eternal.
Death is not an event but a place.
What follows is a short group of references to hell by Jesus.
Matthew 22:11-13 “When the king entered and looked over the scene, he spotted a man who wasn’t properly dressed. He said to him, ‘Friend, how dare you come in here looking like that!’ The man was speechless. Then the king told his servants, ‘Get him out of here—fast. Tie him up and ship him to hell. And make sure he doesn’t get back in.’
Matthew 25:41-43 “Then he will turn to the ‘goats,’ the ones on his left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good for nothing but the fires of hell. And why? Because— I was hungry and you gave me no meal, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was homeless and you gave me no bed, I was shivering and you gave me no clothes, Sick and in prison, and you never visited.’
Mark 9:43-48 “If your hand or your foot gets in God’s way, chop it off and throw it away. You’re better off maimed or lame and alive than the proud owner of two hands and two feet, godless in a furnace of eternal fire. And if your eye distracts you from God, pull it out and throw it away. You’re better off one-eyed and alive than exercising your twenty-twenty vision from inside the fire of hell.
Luke 10:15 “And you, Capernaum! Do you think you’re about to be promoted to heaven? Think again. You’re on a mudslide to hell.
Luke 16:22-24 “Then he died, this poor man, and was taken up by the angels to the lap of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell and in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap. He called out, ‘Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I’m in agony in this fire.’
This last verse refers to right now! The time of the blood moons, from October 8, 2014 to April and September 2015.
Luke 21:25-26 “It will seem like all hell has broken loose—sun, moon, stars, earth, sea, in an uproar and everyone all over the world in a panic, the wind knocked out of them by the threat of doom, the powers-that-be quaking.
Sounds like Syria and Iraq doesn’t it? Be ready!
