Peace on Earth to Whom?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We say it, we sing it, but it is not what the New Testament said. Luke 2:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

But that is not what the Greek says. It is one of the few places where the King James scholars got it wrong. King James was disgusted with the controversy surrounding the word of God. Translations, opinions and options were everywhere. His charge to these scholars was to be as loyal to the original language as possible. Up until that time most people, primarily Roman Catholics, read the Jerome Bible, translated from the Latin, and since most people were illiterate, it was read to them..

Here is the correct translation:

Luke 2:14 “In the highest heaven, glory to God! And on earth, peace among people of good will!”

Evil men get no blessings from Yahweh. For that group He says, “Peace, there is no peace for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:21

One of the facts of life is that before human beings die they all have a chance to be on the side of right or wrong. And those who seek peace will find it.
