{"id":127,"date":"2018-02-06T12:00:36","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T12:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woulduconsider.wordpress.com\/?p=127"},"modified":"2020-09-03T11:34:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T11:34:43","slug":"6-hours-on-the-cross-the-crucifixion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corneliascottcree.com\/6-hours-on-the-cross-the-crucifixion\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Hours on the Cross \u2013 The Crucifixion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Were You There When They Crucified My Lord - Annie Moses Band - Easter Hymn\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P4Aktws3V0s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<p>Jesus was nailed to the cross at 9 a.m., which Jews called the 3rd hour of the day because the day began at 6 a.m. He gave up the ghost at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\">Luke 23: 44 Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 Then the sun was darkened,[b] and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, \u201cFather, \u2018into Your hands I commit My spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Six is the traditional number of man who was created on the 6th day. 666 is the number of the evil-incarnate man. The Star of David has 6 points, three of these represent the human spirit, soul and body; the other three represent the 3 persons of God, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the every present Holy Spirit. Laid on top of each other they represent Jesus, the perfect man,&nbsp; perfect God and Son of David.<a href=\"https:\/\/woulduconsider.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/star-of-david.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2962 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/woulduconsider.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/star-of-david.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"257\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But why six hours? Jesus did not die for His own sins but for mankind\u2019s. The first 3 hours when the sun was shining represent the renewed work of the Spirit to create one new man, the good part of the crucifixion. It was not enough to deal with sin \u2013 Jesus had to put in place the elements by which we grow in grace with ourselves and each other. There is the Church to consider. We may be saved individually but we are also part of a body. The last blackened, stormy 3 hours represent the punishment on all forms of evil and sin.&nbsp; Then Jesus cried, \u201cIt is finished.\u201d They put Him in a tomb and really thought that was the end of the story. But it wasn\u2019t. He still had another thing or two to take care of.<\/p>\n<p>While his disciples cried and feared, He visited the Temple where He surprised some priests with His own blood (not bull\u2019s blood) and walked through the torn curtain which separated most of the tabernacle from both the Inner Court and the Outer Court. The priests on duty must have been mightily shocked. That curtain is as thick as a Persian rug! The curtain was torn top to bottom, indicating God did this, not human hands.<\/p>\n<p>Then He went to the \u201cspirits in prison\u201d (1 Peter 3:19 \u201cpreached to the spirits in prison\u201d) presumably those persons who had died without a chance to accept the promises of Father God. They could hear the same message from Him that we hear today and head up to heaven with him.<\/p>\n<p>One occasionally hears that Jesus raised Himself up \u2013 not so. GOD raised him up. Acts 2:32 \u201cThis Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.\u201d What is so interesting is that the Shroud of Turin looks like a photo of a crucified man. God is Light (1 John 1:5) That great flash bulb made a print and removed (vaporized might be a good word here) the earthly body.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus was cremated by God and then given a new spiritual body which could walk through doors and be seen in diverse places.<\/p>\n<p>Mary thought he was the Gardener, and rightly so. Adam, the 1st man, was to tend the Garden; the last Adam, Jesus, is mistaken for one.
