This is the key passage where Jews believe for the restoration of their national homeland. The Message is a modern translation and too priceless not to quote in full.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\">This is where your pomp and fine music led you, Babylon,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;to your underworld private chambers,<br \/>A king-size mattress of maggots for repose<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and a quilt of crawling worms for warmth.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>What a comedown this, O Babylon!<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Daystar! Son of Dawn!<br \/>Flat on your face in the underworld mud,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you, famous for flattening nations!<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>13-14&nbsp;<\/sup>You said to yourself,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cI\u2019ll climb to heaven.<br \/>I\u2019ll set my throne<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;over the stars of God.<br \/>I\u2019ll run the assembly of angels<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon.<br \/>I\u2019ll climb to the top of the clouds.<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019ll take over as King of the Universe!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>15-17&nbsp;<\/sup>But you didn\u2019t make it, did you?<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Instead of climbing up, you came down\u2014<br \/>Down with the underground dead,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;down to the abyss of the Pit.<br \/>People will stare and muse:<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cCan this be the one<br \/>Who terrorized earth and its kingdoms,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;turned earth to a moonscape,<br \/>Wasted its cities,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;shut up his prisoners to a living death?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>18-20&nbsp;<\/sup>Other kings get a decent burial,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;honored with eulogies and placed in a tomb.<br \/>But you\u2019re dumped in a ditch unburied,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;like a stray dog or cat,<br \/>Covered with rotting bodies,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;murdered and indigent corpses.<br \/>Your dead body desecrated, mutilated\u2014<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;no state funeral for you!<br \/>You\u2019ve left your land in ruins,<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;left a legacy of massacre.<br \/>The progeny of your evil life<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;will never be named. Oblivion!<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>Get a place ready to slaughter the sons of the wicked<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and wipe out their father\u2019s line.<br \/>Unthinkable that they should own a square foot of land<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;or desecrate the face of the world with their cities!<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color\"><sup>22-23&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cI will confront them\u201d\u2014Decree of&nbsp;God-of-the-Angel-Armies\u2014\u201cand strip Babylon of name and survivors, children and grandchildren.\u201d&nbsp;God\u2019s Decree. \u201cI\u2019ll make it a worthless swamp and give it as a prize to the hedgehog. And then I\u2019ll bulldoze it out of existence.\u201d Decree of&nbsp;God-of-the-Angel-Armies.<\/p>\n\n<p><!--EndFragment--><strong>The sin of Adam and Eve was their self-will.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fruit business was just part of the test.\u00a0 Why does God test us? Simple.\u00a0 He knows what we are made of, but we do not.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The test is to let us know where we stand and what is in our heart.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>When we finally see our need, our lack and the solution, repentance follows.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Years ago I stayed with a 99 year old woman who had no diseases but she needed care.\u00a0 She had plenty of money, no children, and lived in a paid for house but her heart was consumed with evil. She thought I was stealing her clothing &#8211; size 5; I was a size 18.\u00a0 But when evil fills the heart facts do not matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She complained about everyone and everything. Apparently she had never been tested. It occurred to me that God did not want to send her to hell so here she was, waiting for death, in a world of conflict, rejection and misery all brought on by her own empty life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It reminded me of the funeral director who said there was only one woman whose corpse on which he could not manage to create a smile. She too lived to a very old age, and her caregiver said she never saw in her life the slightest kindness or love.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Behind this road to hell is the presumption that God is supposed to make your life easy, fun, rich, and successful.\u00a0 It is not. Whatever brief time we have on earth is to prepare for the eternal life we all have &#8211; no matter where that will be.\u00a0 It is our decision.
