{"id":7991,"date":"2018-05-13T12:00:39","date_gmt":"2018-05-13T12:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woulduconsider.wordpress.com\/?p=10"},"modified":"2020-09-06T12:46:03","modified_gmt":"2020-09-06T12:46:03","slug":"apostate-the-wrong-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corneliascottcree.com\/apostate-the-wrong-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Apostate = the wrong way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>var pfHeaderImgUrl = '';var pfHeaderTagline = '';var pfdisableClickToDel = 1;var pfHideImages = 0;var pfImageDisplayStyle = 'right';var pfDisablePDF = 0;var pfDisableEmail = 0;var pfDisablePrint = 0;var pfCustomCSS = 'https:\/\/www.WouldYouConsider.net';var pfBtVersion='2';(function(){var js,pf;pf=document.createElement('script');pf.type='text\/javascript';pf.src='\/\/cdn.printfriendly.com\/printfriendly.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(pf)})();<\/script><a href=\"https:\/\/www.printfriendly.com\" style=\"color:#6D9F00;text-decoration:none;\" class=\"printfriendly\" onclick=\"window.print();return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly and PDF\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none;-webkit-box-shadow:none;box-shadow:none;\" src=\"\/\/cdn.printfriendly.com\/buttons\/printfriendly-button-lg.png\" alt=\"Print Friendly and PDF\"><\/a><br \/>\nIn junior high I had a good Catholic friend at a time when the Roman church taught that Protestants were going to hell because they were \u201capostates.&#8221;&nbsp; (The church gave up those notions in time.) &nbsp;What the Pope meant was this \u2013 you have rejected the standards and teaching of this denomination.<br \/>\nApostate comes from two Greek words \u2013 \u201capo,\u201d which means away from, and \u201cstat\u201d the root for state, or standard from which we get words like Pakistan, and station. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Martin Luther entitled his opposition to church doctrine, <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Here I Stand<\/span>, a new theological position.&nbsp; In brief Luther\u2019s stand was this \u2013 faith is not a body of man-made laws, or even the words and works of the finest historical minds of the Western Church.&nbsp; By faith alone in God\u2019s word we are saved \u2013 period.<br \/>\nSo much for theology.&nbsp; What does this mean in real life?&nbsp; Last year a friend told me about an elderly woman who was sorry, even guilty for the shabby way she had treated her brother\u2019s wife; she felt she had contributed to their divorce.&nbsp; So now she supports the new wife as her way of compensating for her previous mistakes.<br \/>\nThis is an example of apostate behavior.&nbsp; Not doing it God\u2019s way. (PS It is not a denominational thing at all.)<br \/>\nThe Bible says if you have sinned against someone you go to that person and ask for forgiveness. (Matt 5:23) It is not a complicated process.&nbsp; You don\u2019t substitute kind and generous behavior to a totally different and unrelated person as a way of dealing with your own sin. &nbsp;Simply put &#8211; the apostate substitutes his word for God\u2019s and since we only have the Bible to know God\u2019s way, we must go back to it for our <strong>stand<\/strong>ards.<br \/>\nThere is a way that seems right to man but the way thereof is death.&nbsp; (Prov 14:12) Without God\u2019s way there are no God-results. &nbsp;It doesn\u2019t affect heaven and hell but it does improve life here and places you in line for His blessings.<br \/>\nGalatians says we are no longer under the law if we walk in the spirit, but we are to observe \u201cordinances.\u201d There is a specific order in which things are done in a Godly manner.&nbsp; &nbsp;A friend once said she was baptized as a child; I reminded her that the Bible says, \u201crepent and be baptized,\u201d (Acts 2:38) NOT `&#8221;be baptized and repent.\u201d&nbsp; She laughed and was baptized along with 100 other people in a giant swimming pool that afternoon.&nbsp; Was she required to do this to be saved?&nbsp; Of course not, but there are benefits in the spirit for doing things \u201cdecently and in order.\u201d&nbsp; (1 Corinthians 14:40)<br \/>\n2 Corinthians 13:5 says examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. &nbsp;Here is a chance to read the Bible looking for Divine Order.&nbsp; There may be a problem in the way things have been done in your past.&nbsp; How simple to find the clues and redo it once again in the proper order.&nbsp; If so, you will grow.<\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"https:\/\/woulduconsider.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final-book-cover-moore.jpg\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">You will find this as a chapter in an e-book on apologetics at Amazon, Book Baby, Kobo, Barnes and Noble and other vendors.<\/span><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2583 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/woulduconsider.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final-book-cover-moore.jpg?w=194\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corneliascottcree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final-book-cover-moore.jpg 354w, https:\/\/corneliascottcree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final-book-cover-moore-194x300.jpg 194w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In junior high I had a good Catholic friend at a time when the Roman church taught that Protestants were going to hell because they were \u201capostates.&#8221;&nbsp; (The church gave up those notions in time.) &nbsp;What the Pope meant was this \u2013 you have rejected the standards and teaching of this denomination.
